Community Leader Endorsements

I was born and raised in Hays County and have had the honor of serving as Mayor of Kyle. We can respect good while still recognizing when an office needs new leadership and a fresh approach.

I'm endorsing Alfonso Salazar for District Attorney because he brings the experience, independence, and the fire needs to make meaningful improvements, especially in juvenile justice and to ensure accountability so cases are handled correctly and justice isn't lost to preventable mistakes. I believe Hays County will be better served by new leadership with the capacity and force of will to make real change.

As a veteran, I understand the importance of electing leaders who will prioritize the needs of our community and families. That is why I am honored to fully endorse Alfonso Salazar as the next Hays County District Attorney. I have known Alfonso, personally and professionally, for over 20 years. He is beyond reproach, man of great character, steadfast, fair and impartial.
Alfonso was frequently sought for his guidance by the military members that worked for him, and often by those of higher rank. I continue to seek his guidance in many areas of my professional and personal life. He has not faltered in giving me true and professional advice. Alfonso is dedicated to his profession and is the clear choice for Hays County District Attorney.

I, Maxfield Baker, endorse Alfonso Salazar for Hays County District Attorney. Talking with Alfonso shed light on how the current system works, and the desperate need for new leadership.
He has the tenacity to fight for what's right, and the clarity to identify policies that have hurt out community. Alfonso is approachable, and his life experiences are relatable to so many folks in Hays County.

I am proud to endorse Alfonso Salazar for Hays County District Attorney because he has the courage to stand up for people even when it costs him something. He has spoken out at Kyle City Hall against AI policing, mass surveillance, and the unconstitutional and inhumane actions of ICE, not because it was easy, but because it was right.
A veteran, former military police officer, and civil rights attorney, he understands both the power of the system and the responsibility to use it with restraint and humanity. He would be the first Latino elected to this office in over 20 years, and at a moment when ICE is actively terrorizing Latino communities, representation is not optional.
We have the ability to elect a competent, compassionate, and undeniably qualified Latino leader, and it is our moral obligation, at this time, to do so.

Kyle City Councilwoman

I'm endorsing Alfonso Salazar because Alfonso is culturally competent and rooted in the community.
Alfonso understands that to be a successful DA, you have to represent all of us, not just the powerful and influential.
Join me in voting for Alfonso for DA and let's build a Hays County that serves everyone equally.

I first met Alfonso Salazar at a community forum where his questions for the San Marcos Police Department on Flock Cameras stood out. His eloquence impressed me, and after learning he was running for Hays County District Attorney, meeting him confirmed my belief: he’s one of us.
Alfonso grew up in a hardworking, single-parent home—no silver spoon. A 12-year military veteran, he brings discipline from that service. After graduating from law school, he assisted with prosecuting felony cases for Williamson County and later built a private law practice focused on criminal defense and civil rights.
His broad experience in both prosecution and defense is a clear strength. With firsthand experience as a crime victim, police officer, student prosecutor, defense attorney, and expert witness, Alfonso understands our community's needs from every angle.

Prosecution is not an easy job. It requires more than knowing the law. It demands skill, insight, and humanity not taught in classrooms. Alfonso was a natural. Throughout his legal career, Alfonso has always maintained integrity and professionalism toward colleagues, court staff, law enforcement, clients, and victims of crime. Most importantly, he always strives to be a better attorney.
Alfonso worked with me at the Williamson County District Attorney’s Office when he was a third-year bar card attorney. Working alongside Alfonso, I trusted him to handle every level of felony cases, from State Jail to First Degree. After all these years of knowing him, I consider him a friend, but when I look back at our communication, it is almost always about the law. He is smart enough to know there is always more to learn. He is wise enough to know everyone can teach him something.

I recall the first time I met Alfonso, we didn’t agree on policy. But as I got to know him better, I saw firsthand his integrity, compassion, and passion for public service. Alfonso served our country as an Air Force veteran, and now he’s ready to serve Hays County as District Attorney.
I’m proud to endorse Alfonso Salazar because his vision for the DA’s office is built on reform, trust, and justice. I believe he will bring leadership to the position.
I urge my fellow progressives and Democrats to join me in voting for Alfonso Salazar for Hays County District Attorney and to support his grassroots campaign today!

I had the honor of serving alongside Alfonso in the military for over a decade, and in that time, I came to know him not just as a colleague, but as a trusted leader and a true friend. As his Senior Enlisted Leader, I witnessed firsthand Alfonso’s unwavering commitment to the Air Force core values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. These weren’t just words to him, they were the foundation of how he led, how he served, and how he lived.

Alfonso was always the go-to leader in high-pressure situations, especially when resources were limited and the stakes were high. His “Mission First, People Always” mentality wasn’t just effective, it was transformative. He inspired those around him to rise to the occasion, and he never lost sight of the human element behind every decision.

Beyond the uniform, Alfonso remains a man of deep compassion and unshakable moral conviction. He’s the kind of person who fights for what’s right, who shows up for those in need, and who never backs down from a challenge. He understands what it means to be the underdog, and he’s built everything he has through grit, humility, and relentless hard work.

Alfonso doesn’t just talk about justice, he lives it. He’s not running for District Attorney to chase power; he’s running to serve. To protect. To uplift. I’ve seen what he can accomplish when the odds are stacked against him, and I have no doubt he will bring that same tenacity, integrity, and heart to the role of District Attorney.

I’ve known Mr. Salazar from his time as an intern at the Williamson County District Attorneys Office. I can remember him as a young attorney eager to learn. He exhibited a willingness and eagerness to see a case go from intake to jury. I believe he will bring that same eagerness and fortitude to help modernize and streamline the Hays County District Attorney’s Office.

I know he will make sure cases are not bogged down or lost in intake. The constant delays I see are burdens on everyone from victims to the accused. Justice delayed really is justice denied. I support Mr. Salazar for District Attorney of Hays County.
